Sunday Sounds: Sunday

It’s funny the extraordinary timings of ordinary events in day to day life.

For the past six months or so, I’ve been making playlists in soundcloud and Spotify piece by piece. When I encounter a new song I like, I add it to my current running playlist.

I’ll also happen on a song in a podcast, someone else’s playlist (arguably the same thing), on the radio, at a show, or even by accident. I detective my way to the song’s details and add it to one of the running playlists.

The great thing about this is that I now have a list of playlists for late spring, early and late summer, and so on.

It was an accident that led me to find Klangkarussel’s remix of Max Manie’s “Sunday.” Before I even saw the title, I thought it would be a perfect Sunday sound. I added the song to my current playlist, then I went back to whatever was on my mind before the song came on.

Today, as I’m walking around the gloomy, low-hanging clouds of downtown Minneapolis, the “Sunday” remix comes on and it was like being in the most dreary commercial ever. I’m not even sure what it would be advertising. Maybe the “before” part of an antidepressant medication.
