Here’s an extra-special bunch of music for this Friday. People get so givey around the holidays. It’s great.
First up is the new EP from What So Not, featuring the last of Emoh Instead’s musical interactions with Flume. Prepare to be elated with what you hear, then probably a little miffed about Flume’s sudden and admittedly, a little weird departure from the group. His music and his approach can come off a bit too…serious at times, and I think Emoh provided a kind of wildcard of silliness to the production. Otherwise you create a bunch of hyper-produced tracks that are best suited for staring at your toes for hours on end. Which is nice, but What So Not is more flexible and friendly and isn’t going to shut down any conversation at a part quite like, say, “Some Minds.”
The rambunctious duo from Sweden that isn’t Galantis put together a mix of their favorite tracks from the past year, and made it available as a free download. It’s not all just Dada Life, either. They feature Tommy Trash, Don Diablo, Sander Van Doorn, Tiesto, Cajmere, Chemical Brothers, and a whole lot more names as part of today’s gift in their “12 Days of Dada.” Buckle up.
Rounding out this Friday is a huge bundle of the 100 top downloads from XLR8R, which provides ample Janet Jackson remixes, as well as one of my favorite features from 2015, Benoit & Sergio’s “Rev 909.” Download via WeTransfer by clicking on the image below.
